What is Music Therapy
The British Association for Music Therapy defines music therapy as “an established clinical discipline which is widely used to help people whose lives have been affected by injury, illness or disability. The title ‘music therapist’ can only be used by those registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. [https://www.bamt.org]
Musical sound is all around us, even before we are born. Music changes how we feel. It connects with our past and inspires our present. Music therapy uses the power of music you create to bring about positive change in your life.
What is a Session
Initial Meeting : This is an opportunity to discuss what you want or need, what I can offer, and whether a series of Music Therapy sessions is appropriate for you right now. This meeting also gives you the chance to meet me and see whether you feel comfortable with me as your therapist.
The Session : I provide a range of instruments for you to play if you wish. No playing skills are required. You create your own music supported by your therapist. Music therapy uses the power of the music you create to bring about positive change in your life. However you are feeling, you can share what matters to you through music or words.
